Narrative Still Life
Students draw an imagined space using two-point perspective. They photocopy their line-drawing and created a value study with an imagined light source. Then, they experiment with layering marker and colored pencil to create a color palette, modeled after a color harmony of their choosing. We discuss color/value hierarchy: how a counter-intuitive color palette can “make sense” if the value structure of the image is preserved. Students then apply their color palette to their drawing.
